Asher Israelow was born in New York City and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with degrees in fine arts and architecture. Back in New York, he currently works at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, designing buildings and building furniture. Drawing on his training as an architect and a love of lore, Asher designs work for the modern explorer. All the materials are ethically and locally sourced, building upon the importance of origins. Each piece narrates the story of its materials, with an honest approach to joinery and a touch of conceit. The studio produces all original and small batch pieces designed to last for generations. The work emphasizes a handcrafted and emergent vision of contemporary culture.

Bart van der Leck, together with Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg, is one of the founding members of the 'De Stijl' group in 1916-1917. At that time, Bart van der Leck's work had a major influence on the development of the work of Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg.
This carpet comes from and is used in the Villa Schöne-van der Leck in Blaricum. The villa Schöne-van der Leck was built in 1953 after a design by Piet J. Elling in collaboration with the artist Bart van der Leck. The clients, Mr. and Mrs. O. Schöne-Van der Leck, were Bart van der Leck's son-in-law and daughter, respectively. The villa Schöne-van der Leck has exceptional art-historical value because of the collaboration between the architect Elling and 'De Stijl' artist Bart van der Leck, resulting in a total work of art according to the principles of 'De Stijl', in which the various disciplines have equal value. contributed. Born in Mexico City in 1950, Ricardo Mazal moved to Barcelona Spain in 1986, and since 1990 has lived and worked in New York City, as well as Santa Fe New Mexico.
Mazal’s work explores the process of visual perception as it takes form in the human consciousness. His paintings depict the passage of time, not by illustrating events but by leaving their residue to dissipate in space like a still photograph of a speeding object blurred to abstraction.
In the last decade he has been honored with ten individual museum exhibitions, including a retrospective at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City and the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MARCO) in Monterrey. Ellen Von Wiegand’s body of work reverberates with a quest for self-assurance and serenity as she uses her own nude body within her stylized prints. In a new series of large scale, limited edition linocuts now on view at JoAnne Artman Gallery’s Laguna Beach location, her portraits feature a distinctive use of line to establish composition, as well as a tool to divide space and color into defined, physical boundaries.
As opposed to digital prints, linocuts celebrate the long tradition of handmade editioned art that has been practiced for nearly two millennia. While woodblock printmaking goes back thousands of years, artists like Picasso popularized linocut in the early part of the 20th century due to wider availability of linoleum.
“All parts of my process are done by hand, from the original drawing, to the carving, and final printing. In order to produce a work in multiple colors, separate blocks need to be carved and printed for each hue. As a result, creating a limited edition of colorful prints is quite time consuming and requires a great deal of patience. And while there are multiple prints created from the same plates, each one is truly an original work of art” Von Wiegand explains.
