About the Item

Artist Comments
Artist Carey Parks depicts three kids standing outside a suburban neighborhood. She uses an old family photo to capture the essence of moments long ago—of herself, her brother, and a friend. "A photo taken on the first day of school is universal," says Carey.

About the Artist
Carey Parks recreates the nostalgia of a family album in her familiar scenes. Some of her works actually take inspiration from her own photographs and places she has visited. She also creates up-close portraits and colorful landscapes. She frequently mixes paint directly on the canvas to create interesting color mixtures.
