Á l'attention d'Hélène Martini Plate - Porcelain Collector Plate - 1976

1976

About the Item

Á l'attention d'Hélène Martini Plate is an original decorative porcelain plate realized in 1976. This very rare plate reproduces a sketch of a male portrait on a red background by Erté (Romain de Tirtoff) and on the back a signed and dated hand-written inscription: "Á l'attention d'Hélène Martini d'après Erté / 1976/ Vera Henry-Norman". With the stamp "Giraud Limoges France".  This is an artistic plate, with the graphic of the French master Erté, devoted to the French actress Vera Norman (1924) to Hélène de Cressac Martini (1924 –2017), the Polish-born French striptease artist, best known as "The Countess" or "The Empress of the Night", turned businesswoman and nightclub owner associated with the Folies Bergère. In good conditions, except for some signs of aging on the back, this is a precious and rare piece of the disappeared French way of life following the "Joie de vivre"!
