About the Item

Artist Comments
A grizzly bear exudes a quiet strength against a soft blue background. Artist Karen Barton used both palette knife and brush to build texture and depth. The result is a richly layered portrait that feels both powerful and serene.

About the Artist
Inspired by the beauty and intricate details of nature, artist Karen Barton captures the essence of what she observes in the world around her, especially in her own backyard. "I am particularly drawn to the delicate beauty of hummingbirds and butterflies," says Karen. Her paintings are created through a blend of observation, imagination, photography, and research. Using both brushwork and a palette knife, she manipulates the paint to create contrasting colors and textures. From bold expressions to subtle color nuances and intricate details, her work is represented in galleries across the United States. When she's not painting, Karen enjoys tending to her flower garden and baking artisanal breads.
