About the Item

Beautiful L.A.F. (signed autograph letter) of two handwritten pages, made by Pietro Mascagni on 18-8-1909 on the headed paper of the Teatro Costanzi in Rome and addressed to Prof. Ugo Vassura. The great composer tries to convince Prof. Vassura to accept the engagement of the Teatro Costanzi, complaining that he cannot excessively increase the orchestra's budget. To convince the then well-known double bass player to join his orchestra, Mascagni even offers him a higher fee than his other colleagues, citing as a further option also the inclusion in the Orchestra of the Teatro Corea. The letter, in excellent condition, is accompanied by the original envelope, with postage stamp.
