About the Item

The body of work, titled "Anthropocene 2016-2018," explores the ways in which humans have impacted and altered the natural systems of the earth during what is known as the Anthropocene epoch. Through my art, I am chronicling the visible scars left on the earth's surface as seen from above, and questioning our impulse to alter the natural course of the planet's story through our actions. This body of work is focused on raising awareness of the ways in which humans have altered the planet, and encouraging viewers to reflect on their own impact on the natural world. By highlighting the visible scars left by human activity, I am drawing attention to the need for greater environmental stewardship and sustainability practices.

  • Printemps (Springtime)
    By Jean Adele Wolff
    Located in Palm Desert, CA
This painting was inspired by the many themes within my art. Duality is seen in the changing textures and colors, creating a strong sense of depth, concave to convex as well as dark to light. Emergence, another theme, occurs with each layer of paint. New forms start to emerge as if by magic, creating a sense of excitement and mystery. In this painting, I hope to evoke the colorful growth and blossoming of spring. Jean Wolff - Born 1947, Cleveland, Ohio Jean received her Bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin. She continued her studies in sculpture and painting at Otis Art Institute, Los Angeles, CA and the University of California, Los Angeles. Jean Wolff’s artwork has been exhibited in numerous galleries and owned in public and private collections throughout the United States. • Abstract Painting, Acrylic on Canvas, Blue, White by Indian Artist "In Stock"
    By Akhilesh
    Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Akhilesh - Untitled - 30 x 30 inches (unframed Size) Acrylic on canvas Inclusive of shipment in a roll form. Style : Akhileshs paintings appear to be a collection of beginnings. But there are no ends. His work gives a feeling of being left unfinished and yet it does not seem incomplete. It is not possible to look at it in terms of a beginning leading to an end. The way he uses lines may lend a certain linearity to his work but these lines seem to melt into the canvas, refusing to lend typical linear characteristics to his work. His paintings appear to be full of freshness and the colours resonate with emotions. He does not delve into virginal territory. Rather he sticks to familiar ground. It is his method of translating familiar territory on to canvas that imparts an individual characteristic to his work. His paintings do not scream for attention and have little to offer to the casual, hurried viewer. But for the patient observer, they are an enriching experience. About the Artist & his works : Born :Indore in 1956. Education : His father was a teacher of art in Madhya Pradesh. Akhilesh consciously resisted all attempts at becoming an artist initially but the final year of school saw his resolve weakening. He then went on to earn a Diploma in Fine Arts. Art Career : He belongs to the breed of artists who come from the provincial towns of India - rooted in traditions and sporting a fresh outlook. He has been influenced by tribal and folk traditions of Madhya Pradesh; at the same time being aware of the trends in the Art World. Solo Shows : He has held 25 solo shows all over India, and has participated in important group shows. He has curated many shows namely Women in Painting...
