About the Item
By the swedish painter Bengt Lindstrom, an abstract gouache painting on canvas from the sixties. It is signed and it is certified by the Lindstrom Committee. Framed
Bengt Lindström commence sa formation artistique en fréquentant l'académie de Stockholm (1944-1945) et l'école de peinture d'Isaac Grünewald (en). Il dessine ensuite chez Aksel Jorgensen (en) à Copenhague en 1946, avant de faire un séjour à Chicago (1946-1947) et de s'installer à Paris. Là, il travaille alors dans les ateliers de Fernand Léger et d'André Lhote.
En 1949, il se lance dans une peinture moins figurative, de plus en plus colorée. Il fait sa première exposition personnelle en Suède en 1954 au salon d'art de Gummesson. À partir des années 1950, il participe à Paris à plusieurs expositions de groupe et à des Salons (Réalités nouvelles ; Salon d'octobre).
Bien que souvent rapproché formellement de la peinture Cobra et ami de Jorn, l'artiste se revendique plutôt de la peinture nordique de Nolde, Munch ou Ensor. Il est aussi influencé par l'art populaire, la mythologie sami et les chamanes du Grand Nord.

Bengt Lindström
Bengt Lindström began his artistic training by attending the Stockholm Academy (1944-1945) and the Isaac Grünewald School of Painting. He then drew with Aksel Jorgensen in Copenhagen in 1946, before going to Chicago (1946-1947) and moving to Paris. There he worked in the studios of Fernand Léger and André Lhote. In 1949, he began to paint less figuratively and more colourfully. He had his first solo exhibition in Sweden in 1954 at the Gummesson Art Fair. From the 1950s onwards, he participated in several group exhibitions and salons in Paris (Réalités nouvelles; Salon d'octobre). Although he is often formally associated with Cobra painting and is a friend of Jorn, the artist claims to be more influenced by the Nordic painting of Nolde, Munch or Ensor. He is also influenced by folk art, Sami mythology and the shamans of the Far North.
