Giorgio Lo Fermo. He is an Italian painter and sculptor. He was born in Sicily in 1947, but has lived and worked in Rome since the mid-1960s. He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts of San Giacomo and then Sociology of Art at the University of Rome. His innovative style took form in the 70s, in the stimulating atmosphere of the new Rome, re-born through the creative vitality of Fellini and Rossellini. Lo Fermo’s style is a studied symbolic elaboration of varying rhythms, in which objectivity and logic give way to a liberal expression of the dynamic content. His concept is reanimated in color and in aesthetics, which take kinetic paths toward both reality and fantasy, connecting themselves intimately with experience and interior tension. During his career, Giorgio Lo Fermo has participated in international exhibitions in New York (1992), Stockholm (1992), Budapest (1992/1993), Hong Kong (1994) and in the International Art Competition of New York in 1995. He won several important recognitions and awards: the Italian Art Leader Award ’92, the Art and World Prize of Hong Kong in 1994; he was also nominated member of the Accademia Internazionale Greci/Marino. The major galleries in Rome, such as A. Consorti, Gradiva, Babuino and Yanika, exhibit his canvases, and his work is held in private collections both in Europe and in America.

Style : In Hindu philosophy, the 'Antahkaran' refers to the totality of two levels of mind , namely the Buddhi, the intellect or higher mind, and the Manas, the middle levels of mind which exist as or include the mental body. It refers to the entire psychological process, including mind and emotions. Ghoshal’s paintings weaves an Antahkaran, creating structural spaces, sometimes meditative & melancholic in nature. His contemplative mind, enters into the inner realm of reality, dissects it and extracts a kind of mystic silence.
The extant contemplative in wardress in him got charged with meditative spirituality through his association with this heritage city. Benaras, started flowing in his canvasses both through landscapes and human faces. Since 1995-96 his Benaras paintings started transforming. Initially his landscapes contained reflection of naturalness transformed through melancholic chiaroscuro. Gradually the naturalness started disintegrating into expressionistic structures. At a certain stage during 2004-05 some of these structures yielded into abstractions shedding all the links with naturalness. Then again the sign-symbols integrated into geometrical structures reflecting traces of original locations.
About the Artist and his works :
Born : Born in 1965. Tapas spent his childhood and early youth in the quiet idyllic environment of rural Bengal. The soothing lyrical landscape and the intrinsic mythical past within the rural life made a great impact in his inner being, which aroused in him love for beauty, spiritual in nature, making him contemplative and inward looking.
Educational Qualification :
1989 : Graduation in Painting from Govt.College of Art and Craft, Kolkata (First Class First)
1992 : Post Graduate in Painting from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi (First Class).
