Born in Granville, France, on April 14, 1968, François Benoît-Lison began with a figurative approach, which gradually evolved into abstraction, first lyrical, then more contrasting, where black reigns supreme. Black is a sacred color, sometimes dark, sometimes dazzling, without limits, it can be dominant or gentle.
After acrylics and oils, bituminous pastes and inks opened another door, that of the abstract, much more profound and contemporary, with the possibility of working these materials in many aspects and forms.
Since the 1980s, the artist has been offering us works imbued with research, reflection and philosophy, charged with a strong, raw message, highlighting his thoughts and leaving an indelible imprint.
Abstraction is his adventure, his freedom, his struggle, his dreams, his rage, his solitude.

Frank Aumüller is a contemporary artist. Frank Aumüller is a german male artist born in Stuttgart (DE) in 1960.
Frank Aumueller had his first exhibition at Art Cologne 1989 at Koelnmesse GmbH in Cologne in 1989, and Prognose at Württembergischer Kunstverein in Stuttgart in 2021. A notable show was 2041 Endlosschleife at Württembergischer Kunstverein in Stuttgart in 2014. Other notable shows were at Villa Merkel - Galerie der Stadt Esslingen in Esslingen and Museum für Neue Kunst in Freiburg. Frank Aumüller has been exhibited with Hildegard Esslinger and Beate Baumgärtner.
Aumuellers jigsaw puzzle pictures are results of a multistage production process. Expressive, partially with strong auto-lacquers created paintings form the basis. Aumueller then takes a photograph of these abstract color experiments and cuts the photo by machine into jigsaw puzzles. Afterwards he reassembles individual parts, whereby the original parts produce a new picture in a new composition, a sculpture work. At first sight the jigsaw puzzle pictures appear as a "pleasant idea": The result of time-consuming artistic creation is presented as a well-known game for children and adults. This appears to be an ironic move by Aumueller. However, irony is not the artist's concern. There is more to the jigsaw puzzles than just a nice conception: Aumueller labels his jigsaw puzzles "unstable equilibria" - a suitable description for many things in a world which in many ways appears to be stable and arranged. The jigsaw puzzle is more than just a means of formal expression. Colorful wandering clouds in Hung’s works are inspired by traditional cloud ornaments from Vietnam’s ancient citadels and temples. Those ancient ornaments act like a negative version of clouds wandering throughout the space of the pieces. They link together to create a limbo world, where matters become vague and surreal. Another level lies underneath, hiding deep below the clouds the artist has created realms of consciousness and thoughts. Hung, joyful and relaxed, plays around with his dots. Silver dots, golden dots, together they light up the atmosphere to create a passive aura. Ornamental clouds, or simply just dots, they move from one shape to another, unsettled trying to find a logical order for themselves to fit in therefore challenging viewers’ senses. The order of signs creates spaces of uncertainties and invalidities, where the artist’s stories would be tied together and unfold. ‘Autumn Clouds No1’ is a large “abstract figurative” contemporary lacquer on wood panel painting of vertical format, created by Vietnamese artist Nguyen The Hung in 2017. Featuring a palette made of a variety of colors such as black, red, blue and green accentuated with gold leaf, this unframed painting exudes a surrealistic feel that would have made a Joan Miró proud. Painted on a dotted gold, dark green and black ground, a trapezoidal character is facing us. His head, reminiscent of medieval jesters and painted in yellow and red, has a cubist flair. Colorful clouds seem to be falling down the character’s garment and adorn the upper sections of the piece, while scintillating stars accentuate the rest of the composition. Colorful wandering clouds in Hung’s works are inspired by traditional cloud ornaments from Vietnam’s ancient citadels and temples.
