About the Item

Always Part and Always Whole II - Abstract Acrylic on Paper Soft pastels create this ethereal abstract, by Florida artist, Ronald Dennis Reams (American, b. 1950). Mat size: 16"H x 12"W Paper size: 9.88"H x 7.38"W Reams explores the energy of his art in a sculptural way, building layer upon layer, color upon color. This visceral interpretation aligns with Reams' intent to always paint in the moment, allowing the paint, the emotion, and the energy of the painting to direct what happens on the canvas. In the late nineties, Reams began putting vignettes of drawings and paintings together. He then built fifteen-foot panels of these fragments, creating the equivalent of abstract collage. These large-scale pieces reflected his search for a non-routine way of painting. This new media approach paved the way for the works that followed, as the artist carved out a distinct artistic style of his own. The artist began his formal education at Ringling School of Arts but credits his mentors - David Anderson, Edgar Miller, and William Pachner - as the nuclei of his expression. Each brought his own specific influence and, as a result, inspired Reams' artistic candor. These three advisors allowed Reams to strive beyond the archetypal classroom education, thus focusing on actualizing his own style.

LIFE is Just a Way Through YOU - Acrylic on Paper, Abstract Painting, 2024
Located in London, GB
"Life is just a way through You" (2024) is an abstract geometric painting that layers vibrant colors into a rhythmic, almost architectural composition. Shades of red, pink, yellow, purple, green, grey, orange, brown, blue, and black intersect and overlap, creating both harmony and tension. The vertical and horizontal lines suggest pathways and barriers, echoing the journey of life as something navigated through others, through love, loss, and human connection. Exhibited at the Barbican Art Society’s Annual Exhibition in London (2024), this painting reflects the artist’s confessional style — deeply personal yet open to universal interpretation. The transparency of acrylic layers reveals vulnerability, while the bold colors assert resilience. Direct from the artist’s studio, it stands as a testament to honesty, desire, and the constant search for meaning in relationships and identity. Title: "Life is just a way through You" Medium: Acrylic on paper Dimensions: 41 x 31 cm (A3) Year: 2024 Condition: New Exhibition history: Annual Exhibition, Barbican Art Society, London, July 2024 Provenance: Direct from the artist, Aurelian Razvan Dinu
