Sue De Chiara is an abstract artist based in New Canaan, Connecticut. "Growing up in an artistic family I’ve always been attracted to creative pursuits," De Chiara says. "I find inspiration in various aspects of life - from nature and the human body to spiritual matters and meditation. Abstraction with its freedom of expression, its mysterious and unpredictable elements is my favorite mode. "My paintings start with a particular idea and the process itself takes over leading me in mysterious ways to unknown destinations. Although my paintings are perfectly abstract, they always contain a narrative, a story to be interpreted by the viewer. "Graceful and soft handling of the paint is continually reinforced by a barely visible yet strong structural element. This dichotomy of soft component and solid structural foundation creates a unique visual expression, at once subtle and powerful. The colors I choose are often inspired by the changing seasons of coastal New England." "Morning Dew, " Abstract Oil Painting
By Christine Averill-Green
Located in Westport, CT
This abstract painting by Christine Averill-Green is a beautiful combination of layers of green, blue, and purple. Study in Green, Original Contemporary Abstract Expressionist Painting 24.0 x 28.0 x 1.0 (HxWxD), Oil Paint This work by artist Anne Ierardi strikes a balance between the rich, yet subdued, colors of an expressionist painting by someone like Henri Matisse, and the color forward abstraction of an artist like Hans Hofmann. A golden yellow competes against a light grassy green to assert dominance in this nearly square composition. Small accents of deep blue, light cream, soft purple, and rich red add punches of energy to the work. By James O'Shea

Gestural, abstract expressionist oil painting on canvas in earth tones of blue and green, with accents of burgundy and pale yellow "May 29", Painted by Hudson Valley based artist, James O'Shea in 2021 Oil on canvas, 26 x 26 inches unframed, raw canvas sides Wire backing, ready to hang Signed verso James O’Shea’s deeply pigmented abstractions are grounded in the landscape. Taking his cues from the bare winter months in the Northeast when the horizon is stripped of its foliage, he suggests that “So much of life’s structure reveals itself when it goes into hibernation”. The architecture in O’Shea’s compositions takes form with expressive gestures using...
