A vibrant geometric abstract composition that explores form and interaction, executed in tempera onto canvas and dated 1991.
The painting features a dynamic arrangement of amoebic shapes in overlapping layers. The subject matter is intentionally non-representational, evoking the energy of human presence or social exchange through softened silhouettes that seem to drift, merge, or dance within a flat pictorial space.
Rendered in bold blocks of solid colour – striking red and orange, yellow, cobalt blue, and deep plum – the forms float atop a simplified two-tone background of blue and green, suggestive of sky and earth. The palette is both playful and intentional, using contrast to create visual depth without shadows or gradients.
Brushstrokes are smooth and minimally textured, allowing the flatness and precision of each colour field to hold compositional tension. The overall effect is a harmonious yet enigmatic piece that invites viewers to contemplate the relationships between shape, space, and colour.
This tempera on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some marks (as pictured).
