His botanical world was initially inspired by the French artists; Henry Rousseau and Paul Gaugin. Painting journeys to the island of Kauai fueled Marc’s passion for the jungle series, lasting over 12 years. Marc Zimmerman
I have painted since 1980, starting with watercolor. Then on to woodcut ,collage and now for 30 years oil and acrylic. Mentored from 1981-89, Phil Dike, considered the father of the California school of watercolor. Self taught from then on, I went into sculpture in stone and bronze and now ceramic. Today I create and run my own gallery in Carmel by the sea.
