About the Item

Morgan Cameron's "Migration" is a dynamic and vibrant handmade original oil on panel artwork, capturing the essence of movement and freedom. Created in 2022, this piece measures 18 x 36 x 1.50 inches, offering a substantial presence that commands attention in any space. The artwork presents a flock of geese in mid-flight, their powerful wings and graceful forms artfully blurred against a backdrop of clear, azure skies, evoking a sense of both the power and the poetry inherent in nature’s rhythms. As primary market work provided directly by the artist to the gallery, "Migration" is a firsthand offering that connects collectors with the immediacy of Morgan Cameron's creative process. The use of oil paints provides a rich texture and depth, with bold, sweeping brushstrokes that convey the energy and fluid motion of the birds' journey. The contrast between the earthy tones of the geese and the cool blue sky creates a striking visual impact, while also suggesting the duality of earth and sky, grounding and aspiration. This piece comes on a panel with a depth of 1.50 inches, giving it a contemporary edge that allows for a variety of display options, including frameless hanging for a modern look or traditional framing to suit personal tastes. "Migration" is an evocative addition to any collection, appealing to admirers of wildlife art, lovers of expressive, gestural painting, and those drawn to artworks that capture the fleeting beauty of transient moments. About the artist: I am an oil painter based out of Southern Maine. My subject matter focuses mainly on animals and capturing a sense of movement and narrative through the captivating style of disrupted-realism. Living creatures are constantly moving, especially animals and I strive to capture that movement in my art. This may be why I am drawn to looser forms and brushwork in paintings. It is less precise and leaves room for improvisation during the creation process and makes gestures of ideas that the viewer can decipher as they wish. Life moves and thrives in unpredictable ways while taking on a rhythm of its own and I strive to express this in my artwork. I aim to assist the subject with the appearance of movement and life and to meld the forms to create something that feels united throughout the painting as a whole. I use several different tools to achieve this and I’m constantly trying to develop all their uses and possibilities, many of which are discovered during creation process itself. I was born and raised in the small rural town of Dover-Foxcroft, ME. My family had a farm with many animals and lots of land and I spent most of my time outside with my pony and dogs or exploring the woods on foot. I have always found a closeness with animals and surrounding myself them nourishes my soul and inspires my artwork. I loved riding both Western and Dressage and I would draw my horses constantly. Although my range of subject matter has expanded, equines still remain one of my favorites. I have a passion for all animals and since I was young I learned to observe their beautiful anatomy and movements and how to capture their essence on paper. Eventually I would discover painting and this sent me on the path I'm still on today. I now live in Gray, ME with my husband and our dog. My husband is a Pianist/Composer and we’ve spent our years traveling and growing artistically together. This has given me the chance to explore new things and gain new, fresh inspiration for my art time and time again as well as share it everywhere we have lived, settling at last in our home-state of Maine. I have shown my artwork across the country and hope to continue to paint and grow as an artist for the rest of my life.

This Is Not a Flock of Birds, Original Painting
By Candice Eisenfeld
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
A paper crane flies among a flock of birds against a dusky warm gradient. "The title of this work, 'This Is Not a Flock of Birds,' is a nod to Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte," shares artist Candice Eisenfeld. She takes pleasure in letting her viewers create their own meanings inspired by her work.

About the Artist
As an American exploring issues of identity, artist Candice Eisenfeld paints through the lens of the first American art movement, the Hudson River School. Rather than depicting a specific locale, Candice’s artwork evokes a sense of place. These "inner landscapes" are invented, and often reference photographs taken during travels in southern Appalachia and the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains. Whether real or imagined, her paintings are influenced by the Dutch Masters, Tonalists, and Chinese painting. Produced on a single wooden panel, the ethereal landscapes are often joined with segments of aqueous color fields which act as commentary for the landscapes, like the chorus in a Greek play. The crisp, hard edges separating the landscapes from the color fields command a sense of order in an otherwise fluid and painterly surface. With two or three sections of the panel competing for attention, the painting creates multiple focal points. Candice's art has been displayed in embassies in Namibia and Belarus, held in the collections of Norwest Bank and Northwest...
