About the Item
This mixed media painting on wood panel (ready to hang) includes an "appropriation" (or deliberate borrowing) of a Madonna painted by the Italian painter Botticelli, in 1485. The work was create by overlaying a translucent silk print of a digitized and modified image of the original Madonna's painting on a wood panel texturized and painted with acrylic gold paint and other colors. I love Botticelli's work and I wanted to bring it into modern times by incorporating it with my own background which is inspired by the weathered street art near my studio in downtown Los Angeles.
