"Icarus" is a figure from Greek mythology who is well-known for his attempt to escape from the island of Crete by means of wings that his father, Daedalus, constructed from feathers and wax. According to the myth, Daedalus and his son Icarus were imprisoned on the island by King Minos. Daedalus, a skilled craftsman, devised a plan to escape by creating wings for himself and his son.
Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, as the heat would melt the wax holding the feathers together, nor too close to the sea, as the moisture would make the feathers heavy and cause him to fall. However, in his excitement and hubris, Icarus ignored his father's warnings and flew too close to the sun. The wax melted, and Icarus fell into the sea and drowned.
