About the Item
Contemporary figurative oil on canvas painting by Polish artist Agnieszka Staak-Janczarska. The painting depicts the backside of a painting, which is a common subject for Agnieszka's artworks. Paintings by Agnieszka Staak-Janczarska are like a diary: they commemorate her thoughts and the space she works in. Born in 1994, Agnieszka Staak-Janczarska is a Polish painter whose artistic journey began in Krakow, a city with rich artistic traditions. Her formal art education started at the State Secondary School of Art. It was there that she first encountered the various techniques and concepts that would lay the groundwork for her future career. After finishing secondary school, Agnieszka continued her education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, one of Poland's most prestigious art institutions. In 2020, she graduated from the Faculty of Painting, where she studied in the studio of Professor Janusz Matuszewski. Her years at the Academy were a period of intense development, where she searched for her own style and perfected her craft. It was during this time that she began to gain recognition. Her talent and hard work were noticed while she was still a student. In 2019, she received a Rector's Scholarship from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, a testament to her outstanding academic and artistic achievements. That same year, she also won the Rector's Award from the University of Rzeszów, which highlighted her growing reputation in the art world. The following year brought further successes. In 2020, Agnieszka Staak-Janczarska was a finalist in the Leon Wyczółkowski Polish National Painting Competition, a significant distinction. In the same year, she was also among the finalists of the prestigious New Image / Nowe Spojrzenie Competition, organised by the University of Arts in Poznań. These awards confirmed that she is one of the most promising young talents in contemporary Polish painting. Agnieszka Staak-Janczarska is an artist with a strong technique and a clear vision. Her work continues the tradition of painting but undoubtedly brings a fresh perspective that has been appreciated by critics and juries alike.

Group portrait painting after the hunt, oil on canvas
Located in London, GB
This charming painting depicts a group of gentlemen gathered around a kitchen table and admiring an English Setter. The snowy rooftops, just visible from the kitchen window, combined with the lit fire and holly decorating the picture frames in the room, implies that this is a Christmas scene. It also appears that the gentlemen have just returned from a fox hunt, and are now warming themselves, drinking port and smoking long pipes by the fire.
Five men — three gathered behind the table and two standing in front — are identically dressed in long black riding boots...
