“The Threads of Life” is an original oil painting on linen by Andrée Bars.
With poetic sensitivity, this artwork offers a powerful visual metaphor for human existence. Seated at the center of a chessboard — a symbol of destiny’s strategies — a young lace-maker patiently traces the threads of her life. Her precise movements and introspective gaze tell a silent story: that of every human being weaving their own path, thread by thread, encounter by encounter.
The lace she creates is more than a decorative motif — it becomes an intimate cartography, woven from coincidences, choices, chance, and invisible bonds. Having been strictly trained for 4 years by the American hyper-realist painter Mr. Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th century masters’ skills from his own professor, Andrée Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. She still applies these ancient masters’ technics on her art. Each painting contains at least three layers of oil paint. Andrée Bars applies her skills to hyper-realism on surrealist ideas.
Although her paintings copy the reality to the extreme, they can not be qualified in a simple term of hyperrealism nor of trompe-l’oeil style, her artworks distinguish themselves for a kind of mysterious sweetness they convey to the spectator.

Having been strictly trained for four years by the American hyper-realist painter Ted Seth Jacobs, who himself inherited 19th-century master’s skills from his professor, Bars learned the profession of painting in its purest tradition. She still applies these ancient master’s techniques on her art. Each painting contains at least three layers of oil paint. Bars apply her skills of hyper-realism on surrealist ideas.
