About the Item
Anton Krejcar (1923–1993) war ein österreichischer Maler, Graphiker und Mosaikkünstler, der in Wien geboren und gestorben ist. Er studierte von 1945 bis 1952 an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien bei Josef Dobrowsky und Robin Christian Andersen.
Stilistisch bewegt sich Krejcar zwischen dem phantastischen Realismus und dekorativen, reliefartigen Techniken. Er ist bekannt für seine lebendigen Mischtechniken – etwa Buntstifte, Aquarell, Tinte und Pastell – oft in Kombination mit Glas‑ oder Steinmosaiken im öffentlichen Raum . Ein repräsentatives Beispiel dafür ist seine freistehende Betonwand mit Glasmosaik „Fische und Pflanzen“ aus den 1960er Jahren in Floridsdorf, Wien.
Krejcar prägte mit seinen Mitskulpturen und Mischtechnikarbeiten das Wiener Kunstkolorit der Nachkriegszeit. Seine Kunstwerke sind Ausdruck einer Verbindung aus grafischem Feingefühl, Farbfreude und handwerklicher Ornamentik – in öffentlichen wie auch privaten Räumen.
