Arthur Trevor Haddon (1864–1941) was a master of capturing serene and picturesque moments, and his depiction of a young woman tending to a shoreline garden is no exception. Bathed in soft, natural light, the scene exudes tranquility as the woman gently waters the plants, surrounded by lush greenery and the distant shimmer of water. Haddon’s delicate brushwork and keen eye for composition bring a sense of harmony to the piece, inviting viewers to step into this peaceful retreat.
The interplay of colors—earthy tones blending seamlessly with the cool blues of the shoreline—creates a soothing atmosphere, while the artist’s attention to detail enhances the realism of the moment. The gentle posture of the woman, absorbed in her task, adds to the charm, making this painting a celebration of quiet beauty and nature’s embrace.

About
John Edward Jones was born in Dublin on May 2nd, 1806. He was the son of a miniature painter Edward Jones. He was trained as an engineer under Alexander Nimmo and worked with him on many important works in Ireland, including the building of the bridge at Waterford between 1829 in 1832, of which he was in charge. A taste and an aptitude for sculpture induced him to relinquish his prospects as an engineer and he commenced practice in London as a sculptor. He achieved considerable success, especially in portrait busts, and was employed by many notable persons of the time. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1844 and continue to do so until his death. He executed a considerable number of bust of Irish personages. He paid occasional visits to Dublin where he contributed to the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1847, 1852,1853 and 1854. A full-length statue by him of Sir Robert...

He was born in Milan on June 1, 1887 to Giovanni Feltrinelli, the nephew of Giacomo, who was the founder of the Feltrinelli partnership. Feltrinelli was not only a prominent figure in the Italian economic and financial field, but he was also a painter, who was characterized as a strong, impetuous hot colorist, and preferred still lifes, portraits and landscapes. He started his career in 1930 at La Permanente (Milan), where he exhibited a portrait and a still life that won him the Fornara award.
