About the Item
Allersma Staand Oil Painting on Canvas Modern Nature Outdoors Tree In Stock
Born in Valthermond, 1971 - The Netherlands
During his studies decided Gertjan to leave the concept of painting in a studio and embraced the rich experience of painting ‘en plein air’.
For fifteen years he has been painting outdoors, riding his bicycle, to use the elements in feeding his experience of the landscape.
“I experience the changing atmosphere, the direct light and the vast spaces. They give me a feeling of joy.”
Scholte-Albers paints in the woods or on the high grounds of Groningen where he lives.
He is capable to convert the joy he feels when working outside into his own colour harmonies.
He calls this: “an urge to satisfy the joy of my eye.” Remarkable is that his landscapes are not realistic.
He paints with colours, which hardly occur in nature. He converts the contrasts of light and dark that he sees in the landscapes into his own bright colours.
Scholte-Albers tries to combine intuitive choices of colour with the experiments of his own designed colour circles.
The constant need for these investigations and experiments play a major role in his work.

Forest Tapestry is an original Trevor Waugh oil painting. The earth tones throughout are broken up by the highlights, giving the piece a rich texture, particularly regarding the forest floor.
Trevor Waugh was born in 1952 and grew up in London. Trevor studied at The Slade School of Fine Art from 1970 -1974 (BA) under the guidance of Sir William Coldstream, Professor of The Slade at the time, Patrick George, Philip Sutton, David Hockney, Euan Uglow and Bernard Cohen. Forest Calm, Bright Landscape Art, Vibrant Woodland Tree Painting, Light Art
Located in Deddington, GB
Nature and forest places are so healing meditative and peaceful. I love walking out to the woods in the summer. The sunlight is iridescent shining through the leaves creating beautiful shadows over the ground. I have always been entranced by the shadows and light in the forest. I create the effects of transient light by harnessing optical mixing and some of the colour theory employed by the impressionists resulting in a semi-abstract contemporary painting. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on a deep edged canvas so no need for a frame. I use impasto techniques applied with a palette knife in multi layers, which creates a contemporary painting and if you look closely you can see the first layers applied in places.
Amanda Horvath is a contemporary artist whose works are available at Wychwood Art online and in our gallery. Amanda is influenced by the woods and moors of her home in the Peak District. Achieving a B A Hons (first class) in fine art Amanda went on to lecture in painting and printmaking. Now working full time as an artist from her studio her paintings are informed by the wild landscapes of her home. Renowned for forest scenes Amanda’s paintings are full of colour, texture and contrast, with an emphasis on delicate light effects and dramatic shadows. “I have a close connection to the natural world and painting is a response to the beautiful landscape, I attempt to capture the spirit of the land and the ethereal quality of light filtering through woodlands. Through my work I hope to impart the sense of peace and meditative calm I feel in these quiet places. This affinity with nature has grown from childhood and my past experiences” An important part of the creative process is to be absorbed in nature, so it begins with walking in the landscape making preliminary notes. These form the foundations of the work translated onto canvas in the studio. Harnessing some optical mixing techniques the paintings are created with layer upon layer of highly textured paint, worked expressively using palette knives and brushes, which results in paintings that lie somewhere between abstraction and realism. Her work has found homes...
