Castle Doorway is an original modern artwork realized in the half of the XX Century by Giuseppe Scognamiglio (Neaples, 1901 - Neaples, 1985).
Original oil on cardboard.
Hand-signed on the lower right corner: G. Scognamiglio.
A gilded wood frame is included.
Mint conditions.
Fresh and intense oil painting representing the open door of a fortress. The scene is set in the countryside, in a verdant and natural environment and reflects the typical realist taste of the epigones of the Neapolitan School of the second half of the Nineteenth century.
The work has been created by the Italian artist and painter Giuseppe Scognamiglio (Portici, 1901 - Naples, 1985). He began painting when he was very young, following in the footsteps of the last exponents of the School of Resina, also known as the Republic of Portici, founded in 1863. He soon became one of the most talented exponents of Neapolitan Impressionism of the early XX Century. His landscapes «rest in the calm and sweetness of a sentimental emotion that derives from the daily relationship with nature and the environmental reality». His still lifes are really gorgeous too, they are realized with «precise design, calibrated tones, measured perspectives, taken by the careful eye and traced by the sure hand».
