This hyperrealistic figurative painting on canvas measures 38.5 inches square. It is framed in a complimentary gold tone frame and is ready to hang. It is hand signed by the artist on the front right corner.
The painstaking detail in Johannes Wessmark's paintings is absolutely spellbinding. The female figure is suspended in cerulean water with the sublime detailing of the bubbles around her. The color and composition create a calming mood.
The artist says of his work, “In my paintings, and especially my figurative motifs, I want to convey a feeling of calm and relaxation. Water is a subject matter that have followed me for many years. As a child we had a summer-house by the Swedish west coast where we spent many holidays. Positive experiences with water that came to influence me as an artist many years later.”
Wessmark's artwork is in the collections of the European Museum of Modern Art, Barcelona, The Count Ibex Collection, New York, City of Stockholm, Karlstad municipality, as well as several private collections in USA, Sweden, Germany, and Mexico.
