About the Item

This painting is a tribute to all Mothers and womanhood as a whole. She is tough, resilient, emotional, fragile, and vulnerable, but still, they remain strong through the different stages and phases of motherhood. When her culture revealed is to her, everyone is on her case to get married. Whether she’s educated or not, society begins to pressure her to get ready for the acts of procreation and raising kids. When she’s finally married, the pressure goes up another not chase everyone’s looking at the calendar hoping there will be a growing bump. When there’s a bump, all is well but when her face, belly, and feet refuse to swell, she soon becomes the gist on every gossip’s lips. She endures the shame and pain of infertility. Even when the diagnosis indicates her spouse might be infertile, society still casts the blame on her. She’s the only one running up and down looking for a child anyhow. safe delivery of the child. Her sleepless nights begin nursing a colic child as her husband snores on the other side of the bed. To some belief, if she’s had no male child, she either becomes a second wife or keeps on making babies til the baby boy is delivered. When she’s done with having kids, her stretch marks reveal the pain of childbirth. He discovered his talent at a tender age while he dedicated much of his interest to developing his skill under the influence of a Master, Art philosopher ( Olayinka Oyebola) in the years 2007 - 2012. In the year 2014; He was admitted to the prestigious Yaba College of Technology, School of Arts Design & Printing to study Fine Art. During his program, he had his first ground exhibition at the University of Lagos, J.P.Clack Gallery, in 2016, (artwork titled, The Motherhood). In 2017, he had another group exhibition (artwork titled, who is Next) at Yusuf Grillo Gallery, Yaba College of Technology, Nigeria., Eko Art Expo ( Lagos @50) at Eko Hotel Lagos Nigeria 2017. In 2021, He exhibited at the Arthouse Foundation (television media) in Lagos alongside other galleries. In further of his studying, He majored in painting in his final year under the mentorship and influence of Dr. Odun Orimolade and Dr. Aladegboungbe as a graduate while exhibiting with other contemporary artists on a project titled Old Oshodi, a visual documentation of the old Oshodi environment before it new development, in the year 2022. His first international exhibition was with the Vainemagazine a group exhibition with artists worldwide
