This painting is a self-proclamation painting by Ayomabidele John. The proclamation goes thus:
I choose to be full of love and compassion. I refuse for any part of my heart to be overtaken by the offense. Today, I rise from any limiting beliefs that I previously held onto. This is the beginning of a higher version of me.
I commit to the growth that produces my next human possibility. It is not in me to give in or give up!
I will not lower my expectations of success because of the fear of failure. I believe too much in the assurance of my significant life to walk away from my vision.

About Artist
John Ayobamidele is a contemporary Artist (b.1992) in Lagos. He discovered his talent at a tender age while he dedicate much of his interest to developing his skill under the influence of a Master, Art philosopher ( Olayinka Oyebola) in the years 2007 - 2012. In the year 2014; He was admitted to the prestigious Yaba College of Technology, School of Arts Design & Printing to study Fine Art. During his program, he had his first ground exhibition at the University of Lagos, J.P.Clack Gallery, in 2016, (artwork titled, The Motherhood). In 2017, he had another group exhibition (artwork titled, who is Next) at Yusuf Grillo Gallery, Yaba College of Technology, Nigeria., Eko Art Expo ( Lagos @50) at Eko Hotel Lagos Nigeria 2017.
In 2021, He exhibited at the Arthouse Foundation (television media) in Lagos alone side with other galleries. In further of his studying, He majored in painting in his final year under the mentorship and influence of Dr. Odun Orimolade and Dr. Aladegboungbe as a graduate while exhibiting with other contemporary artists on a project titled Old Oshodi, a visual documentation of the old Oshodi environment before it new development, in the year 2022.
His first international exhibition was with the Vainemagazine a group exhibition with artists worldwide

My Reflection

I walked up to the mirror and I was heartbroken. My heart wandered, earth broken.
I saw my pains, anxiety, lies, and burdens staring at me.
I hated the fact that I might be blind.
My reality has been bound, I realized the mirror might be deceiving; false info I am receiving.
I turned to society due to my uncertainty to be a mirror and it said, you are too kind to be real, too beautiful to serve God, too smart for the Gospel, and too holy for us.
You are lagging behind leaving no mark behind.
Then I turned to the Word and I am reflected for who I am, not perfected for the world. I might be flawed yet there was room for correction.
And it was pointing in the right direction.
