About the Item

Measurements Painting 31 x 41.375 Framed 32.5 x 42.75 Jorge Chávez Carrillo was a Mexican painter born in Colima and known for his contributions to muralism and modern art in Mexico. His work often depicted social themes, indigenous culture, and historical narratives. He was influenced by figures like Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. He studied under Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera as part of La Esmeralda school in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Chávez Carrillo created murals in various public spaces, particularly in Colima, where he left a significant artistic legacy. His style combined realism with elements of abstraction, and his work reflected a strong commitment to Mexican identity and culture. A museum and cultural center bearing his name is in Colima. This painting is in excellent condition and retains a simple black painted wood frame. Its wonderful iconography is presented in brilliant colors and very strong cubistic dynamism.
