About the Item

***This artwork is currently on exhibit at the Instituto Cervantes, Chicago until September 2025. If purchased this artwork will be available to ship after September 1, 2025. Contact the gallery with questions. Adversary is the Hebrew definition of the word Satan. In the New Testament, Satan becomes the being that stands in direct opposition to Christ and, by extension, God the Father. Nevertheless, throughout the books of the Old Testament, Satan remains mostly an adversary who tests faith, and one that often does this at the behest of the Lord. This last idea of the adversary is a philosophical concept which reveals that adversaries constantly are also allies and ironically come from the same core. - Juan Barragán This piece is framed in a gold framed measuring 11.75 x 21.5 inches. This happens just by throwing an impulsive stroke of red paint. While the figure is not in real danger, i.e. actually bleeding, but instead the red paint represents stepping out of one's comfort zone. It means to leave the status quo...
