Jack Henderson (1931-1998) taught at the Art Students League for many years and had a studio in at 30 East 14th Street, New York City. In that building were many other artists including Henderson's teacher and long-time collaborator, Edward Laning. A Kansas City native, Henderson was the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome. He continued the Miller/Laning tradition of travel to Italy to study the masters of the Renaissance and the goal of fine figure painting as the ultimate artistic achievement. A version of his monumental triptych, New York in Ruin, 1967, is in the collection of the New York Landmarks Commission. Work by Jack Henderson was shown at the Susan Teller Gallery...

Natan Heber was trained by his father in Poland to be a ritual slaughterer. In 1925, he joined the Zionist movement "Mizrachi" and in 1936 immigrated to Palestine where he opened a poultry shop in Haifa. He began to paint at the age of sixty-one, after ill health forced him to retire. Driven by a need to memorialize his family and their shtetl community lost in the Holocaust, he drew scenes of traditional Jewish life. Unfamiliar with the conventions of scale and perspective, he set his heavily outlined frontal figures on steeply rising surfaces and often portrayed his father in monumental size to mark his importance. One of Israel's greatest naive-style painters. About the artist:
Jack Laycox (1921-1985) was born and grew up in Auburn, California. The eldest of 4 children, all of whom were artistically talented, it was Jack who was the shining star, constantly drawing, filling every available piece or section of paper that was available.
After earning an engineering degree from San Francisco State University, which provided the opportunity to travel throughout the United States to work on various assignments, he eventually returned to his love of the Fine Arts, specifically plein-air painting. With encouragement from his wife, sculptor Jayne Amason, he made the break from his career to become a full time artist.
The first Laycox Gallery was opened in Walnut Creek, California. He become known locally and throughout northern California, as well as being represented by Royce Gallery in Los Angeles and other galleries in the U.S. Jack and Jayne had been spending time in the Monterey area, which they loved dearly, so they moved there permanently and opened up a new Laycox Gallery in Carmel. His work became increasingly popular, being sought after for both private and corporate collections. In the 1970’s he was commissioned by Delta Airlines to do all the paintings for their travel-destination posters. He also authored a Walter...
