Provenance: private collection, France, extensively inscribed verso
Condition: for its monumental years, the painting is in sound condition. There are a few condition flaws with it, in terms of some paint loss, scuffing and surface marks, the canvas is coming loose from its original lining to some corners.
Richard Brakenburg (1650–1702) was a Dutch Golden Age painter known for his lively and detailed genre scenes.
