About the Item

Samir Sarkar - Untitled - 36 x 72 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style : He says, “All my paintings have people wearing some headgear that has a face painted on them. This depicts the double-faced nature of people. Like we see in most profession where one wears uniform, like a policeman, a nurse, an army personnel or the Pope. One wears headgear to go with it as well. To me it is the depiction of the fact that we always wear a face that is different from the real one we have. It is like a face we have to put up to suit the personality we want to project which is always different from the real one.” For the past 25 years, acrylic color has been the main medium for his paintings. After doing the line drawing on paper or canvas, a layer of acrylic is used like tempera on it. Then slowly the subjects and people are given shape using more layers of color. Since I use fast colour, it gives a definite brightness to the figures. My figures have a definite inspiration from Egyptian paintings, thus the figures are drawn in the same form, the cloths that they wear have long lines making them look taller and in a way Egyptian. Most of my paintings are of 42½X48½ size which takes about 100 hours. His paintings, in a way are people he lives with. They give him inspiration to produce more, to experiment more and thus to create his own world with them. About the Artist & his works : Born : 1969 in Agra. Mahalaxmi, Acrylic on Canvas, Red, Yellow by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Anil Kumar Yadav - Mahalaxmi - 36 x 48 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas , 2014 ( UNFRAMED ALL IN DOOR DELIVERED ) STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood. His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city. Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words. He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism.
