Peter Durieux signed again in the Netherlands. Anyone who knows the artist knows that his drawings are the source for the paintings he makes. These drawings, made in the landscape, form an important part in the oeuvre of the Groningen artist. The "plein air draftsman" draws a few mornings or afternoons per drawing to the same place. He records how the light shows the landscape. It is important for Durieux that the light is the same as the day before, which is why the artist always opts for the same moments of the day in the same place. The tonal landscapes show a silence and an unparalleled intimacy. Peter Durieux signed for this exhibition in Brabant on the Strabrechtse Heide (near Nuenen in Heeze) and in Groningen, the province where he lives. He made paintings from these drawings. In addition to the Dutch work, there is also new "French" work on display. Drawing is watching. Durieux's paintings and drawings are created in various steps. Peter studies his landscapes while he draws. "Drawing is watching," he likes to tell his students at the Classical Academy in Groningen. "This artwork pays attention on the issue of sustainability. In fact, I am an Italian teacher and I often talk in the classroom about these questions specially during civics classes. Originally, I was intent on creating a giant wave because I was born and I lived in a small village near the sea. Subsequently, I changed my idea because my brush painted this scenary by itself. I love the oil on canvas technique also because I can blend the colour for hours as in this case where the waves break up in the fluidity of the sea". Sabrina Pugliese
Sabrina Pugliese was born on April 2nd, 1990 in a small village in the Southern Italy, Nova Siri. Since she was a child, she was interested in arts in their different forms: singing, playing piano and visual arts. She graduated in Modern Literature at the University of Urbino, in the heart of the Italian Renaissance, the birthplace of Raffaello Sanzio. She didn’t have the chance to attend artistic high school because it was too far from home. So, after the graduation, she began to devote herself to her passions: painting, exclusively oil on canvas. She has started painting as a self-trained painter to promote and improve her territory, Basilicata, also named Lucania. Nowadays, she expanded her project because she wants to spread Mediterranean holidays’ colours, sounds and perfumes, with the image of the sea, all over the world. She knows that painting can give voice to landscapes of the soul through seascapes. She lived for ten years away from home to study and work and, in this way, she created a stronger relationship with her origins. During the pandemic, she has decided to return to Basilicata to offer her small contribution to the Southern of Italy.

Lenny Cornforth original art paintings for sale with Wychwood Art online and through their gallery in Oxfordshire. Endlessly enthralled by the Atlantic ocean, Lenny Cornforth takes inspiration from the northern coast of Cornwall, using layers of translucent colour and texture to construct vibrant and emotional paintings evoking the joyful colours of the landscape around her. Working in both oil and acrylic each piece develops gradually, each layer establishing the shapes within the painting. A keen sailor and surfer, Lenny often draws on her own experiences in the sea, days walking the costal paths and summers lying in the sand to inform her compositions. Much of her work is based on the Camel Estuary where she learnt to sail. After graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Fine Art, Lenny has exhibited widely in the UK including Oxford Castle, Edinburgh Art Fair, Waterperry Gardens and the Scin Gallery in London. Nonetheless she has always been drawn back to Cornwall, where she currently lives near Bodmin with her husband and son, two dogs and 50 dorset sheep.

Driven by the desire for adventure and discovery, Cobi Moules embraces the beauty of nature all the while shifting its weight through the exaltation of his own existence within, and as part, of it. This is best exemplified by the way he incorporates multiple self-portraits throughout his compositions. The multiplicity of self takes both precedence over, as well as integration into, the landscape creating a world with a sense of excitement, self-worth and play.
The locations of Moules’ compositions are equally important. All of the locations were previously depicted in paintings by the Hudson River School. Through the exploration of the grand American landscape and the reflection on mid-19th century American landscape painting, Moules navigates the parallels between the Hudson River School and the religious ideology that was an integral part of his formative years. Shared throughout both is the elevation of purity, virginity and the honor of sacrificing one’s selfhood for the glory of God. As the Hudson River School artists’ work embodies the overpowering force of God made manifest through nature, so do the religious voices of Moules’ past against the validation of his existence.
Moules states, “As a queer and trans person, I seek to renegotiate my relationship with this upbringing and the act of being told I am ‘unnatural’ through such a Christian lens. I utilize traditional representation as a way of seeking inclusion while disrupting the original narrative. Creating a space for personal significance and a queer and trans presence, the importance becomes the experience of my multiple and overall presence. It is a community of me playing, exploring my selves, exploring nature and being part of it.”
