About the Item
I have my place of power - Mount Chatyr-Dag, the lower plateau in my Ukrainian Crimea. I just need to close my eyes - and I'm already there. Hot wind, the smell of thyme, rustling of grass, silence and space. Mountains on the horizon, an eagle high in the sky. Today I can't get there, although I know all the paths and climbs and have walked many times.
Today my granddaughter and my dog are sitting on a hill and watching the storm wind fly over the expanses of my beloved country. Best friends. I know that I will take them to Chatyr-Dag soon. I will tell my stories about stream under the mountain, about the legends of my Crimea, and about the people with whom I have walked all these roads. And we will dream and make wishes.
The series is a testament to the artist’s belief that even in the harshest of circumstances, there is a sanctuary within nature and the stories it holds.
