Rendered in a impressionistic style, this stunning oil depicts two gypsy women churning butter before a river. The artist captures a feeding horse in the background, amongst lines of washing drying in the blustering wind. The pair look focus on the job in hand, one of a long list of physical chores. The oil has been well presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame with decorative acanthus and foliate mouldings. Unsigned. Acquired with a similar signed work by the artist. Provenance: Semley Auctioneers. On canvas laid to board.
