Absolutely stunning vintage large scale abstract expressionist painting titled "Bending Forward," by San Francisco and now Martha's Vineyard artist Cindy Kane (American, b. 1957). This unique monumental piece, created in 1987, has a netherworld primal quality depicting a petroglyph-like blonde woman and her animal spirit dog bending toward a flower-strewn earth. Additional petroglyph vignettes add mystery to narrative.
Signed and dated "Kane '87" upper right.
Unframed.

Her early works were influenced by her memories of these hieroglyphs, and embellished with symbols from her dreams. “I hope [that viewers] get what I get from my work, which is enjoyment, visual satisfaction, and a story — whatever their own story is,” she said. “I can’t give them one, but I can tell my own, and the story they take with them is something personal.”
Her early work was influenced by the experience of living and working at the bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park, where she had the opportunity to document Anasazi Indian pictographs in pen and ink drawings. Gleb SAVINOV (Kharkiv prov., Ua 1915 – St. Petersburg 2000)
Gleb Alexandrovich Savinov was born in Ukraine and spent part of his childhood in Saratov. His father, Alexander Ivanovich Savinov (1881–1942), a talented painter, draftsman and teacher, was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1922 they moved from Saratov to Petrograd. In 1928-1930 Savinov started working in the studio of his father while still attending school. In 1934, after graduating from high school he enrolled at the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied with, among many others, Alexander Osmerkin. In 1940 Savinov graduated and married his classmate and talented artist Olga Bogaevskaya. This happy family and creative union lasted sixty years. Since that year Gleb Savinov participated in art exhibitions with portraits, historical and genre paintings, landscapes, interior scenes, still lives. A substantial Impressionist oil painting showing two young women relaxing in a sunny garden with a peacock and a peahen.
Born in Bosnia, Anton Sipos began drawing at an early age and left home in his teens to work as a film animation artist. He achieved immediate success with his first work, "Surrogate", which won an Academy Award for best-animated short subject under the direction of Yugoslav animator Dushon VuKotic.
In 1964, Sipos moved to Montmartre to study at the École de Paris. During this early period, Sipos exhibited widely and with success including at the Salon d'Automne and Le Salon d'Artistes Françaises. While in France, he made numerous painting trips to Provence, Giverny, Rouen and the Cote d'Azur as well as to Italy.
In 1970, Sipos arrived in California where he painted landscapes of Los Angeles and marine scenes of the harbor in San Diego. He also worked as an artist for the film industry, most notably with Eleanor Ettinger Studio in New York where he was given the responsibility of transferring Norman Rockwell...

"I still remember my memories from childhood, when the horse bowed its velvet muzzle over me. Her huge wet eyes, which you couldn't keep your eyes off, are framed by fluffy long eyelashes. I saw in its eyes another unreal fairy-tale world. Adults said, just stroke her, it asks you. And I thought it wanted to tell me some secret. And I always wanted to learn horse language to understand it. This is what my painting "Ordinary Miracle" is about. The horse still remains a fabulous creature for me. It is like a magical vehicle that can take you to a wonderland and fulfill your innermost desire. It connects me to the world of mystery and magic."
