A brilliantly executed and emotive mid-century modernist figurative portrait of a reclining pregnant nude figure in a relaxed yet expressive pose, executed in oil onto canvas.
The subject’s form is simplified and abstracted, rendered in warm, earthy tones with gestural brushstrokes that emphasise movement and texture.
The artist has used a loose, expressive technique with visible, confident brushwork, creating a sense of raw energy. The muted palette consists of beige, brown, and soft blues, harmonising the composition while highlighting the play of light and shadow across the figure.
