About the Item
This small-scale painting presents a familiar joy, that
of a little bird that is one of many daily garden guests. The tiny bird
perches on the crisscrossing stems of a bright pink flowering
bougainvillea. A bird in the garden is a simple pleasure. Beauty can be
found in the most ordinary of moments.
The layered and lightly textured application of paint creates unexpected
variations in color and tone. The result gives viewers an opportunity to
reconnect with an essential experience of nature, to appreciate the simple
joys, and to find solace in challenging times.
This original painting is created in oil on gallery wrapped linen, on 1 1/2
inch deep stretchers. The edges are hand painted, providing a finished
look, suitable for framing, or beautiful left as is.
Katherine Kean’s paintings seek moments of breath-taking transition in
nature; a gathering of clouds or changing tides; times when the elements of
the landscape combine with the alchemy of imagination to illuminate the
world of heightened mood and sensation. Her work aims to capture these
fleeting moments in time and reveal the serene center that can arise in the
