About the Item
This atmospheric contemporary landscape depicts a great
marshland, covered in tall grasses, through which boggy inlets gently
meander. The marsh water that reflects the sky, leads to a sense of
tranquility. Above, the sky is dominated by thick, swirling clouds imbued
with shades of purple, grey, and blue, suggesting an impending storm or a
moment of intense weather. The horizon is low, allowing the sky to occupy
most of the canvas, creating a sense of vastness and emphasizing the power
of nature. The use of light and shadow in the clouds adds depth and
movement to the scene. The overall atmosphere is an intense, almost
cinematic mood, capturing of the drama of nature's forces.
This original painting is created in oil on 10 inch by 10 inch gallery
wrapped linen, on 1 1/2 inch deep stretchers. The edges are hand painted,
providing a finished look. Included is a floating black wood frame, wired
with finger friendly wire, and ready to hang.

Interesting phenomena affect the look of the landscape, whether it is the light effects caused by the reflective particles thrown into the air by a volcano, or the strange twilight caused by a storm suddenly and dramatically changing the angle of the sun’s rays and for a moment, relighting the landscape. In this painting it is a thunderhead cloud forming suddenly above the mountains.
