About the Item

Kris Knight (b. 1980) is a celebrated contemporary Canadian artist, best known for his dreamy portraits of young men. Knight's work is renowned for his depictions of contemporary masculinity realized with a wistful, tender, and romantic mood. This is a curious and charming diversion from a portrait, his typical subject matter. Executed in the artist's signature candied and pastel palette, the work contrasts the formality of the footwear with the man's lighthearted leap, balancing elegance with a sense of carefree abandon. Knight's work, whether created from his imagination or based on models in his life, has an element of vulnerability and mystery. The scenes are somewhat cinematic, inviting the viewer to construct a narrative about the subject and to delve into their psyche. In 2014 Knight collaborate with Gucci. This work recalls the output of this incredible meeting of art and fashion. Click here to learn more about this project. In February 2024, Knight's work was the subject of a solo exhibition at Spinello Projects in Miami, FL. His work is represented in numerous private collections across Europe and North America.
