About the Item
Contemporary impasto oils in rich deep color, this is a traditional landscape scene of croft and loch with a modern aesthetic. Stunning contrast from mountains that raise off the canvas to the tranquil reflections in the waters, all in deep blues, rich greens and stunning yellows. Color and contrast, this is one of this British artist Charles Wyatt Warren's (1908-1993) best works . Mountains with reflections in the loch, dates to mid to later 20th century and is titled 'High Meadows' of Caernarvon. Following work by Scottish Colourists and post-impressionist artworks, this work by Wyatt Warren has real depth of paint and color, matched by the softer blending of color and flatter brushstrokes in the water. The mountains literally stand proud of the canvas. The traditional white croft defines the painting as rural British.
Wyatt Warren is known for his landscape paintings in and around his home by Caernarvon. Many of his works are wide landscapes, such as this one, but are often more traditional in style. This one stands out among his works with more contemporary freshness and style. Oil on board, the board holds the thickness of impasto paint that gives this work its depth.
About 19.5" by 40.5", the deep rich color stands out across a room. This will be noticed!
Currently framed in a used and damaged white frame. No value is added for the frame except protection during shipping. It is anticipated that this painting will benefit from a new frame.
The painting itself is in excellent overall condition. Presents very well and will makes its presence known wherever you choose to hang it!

Colourful Abstract Landscape Painting of the Scottish Highlands by Leading Contemporary British Artist, Angela Wakefield
Art measures 24 x 24 inches
Frame measure 29 x 29 inches
This vibrant painting beautifully captures the dramatic beauty of the Scottish Highlands, featuring a striking mountain range bathed in golden sunlight. The artist masterfully blends warm tones of yellows and greens in the rolling hills, contrasted with the cool blues and purples of the rugged peaks. A quaint white cottage nestled at the foot of the mountains adds a charming focal point, evoking a sense of solitude and peacefulness. The expansive sky, painted in soft blues and whites, enhances the feeling of vastness and freedom. The modern black frame complements the bold, contemporary style of the artwork, making it an eye-catching piece that brings the majestic allure of Scotland's landscapes into any home. Ideal for those who appreciate both the grandeur and tranquility of nature.
Angela Wakefield has twice been on the front cover of ‘Art of England’ and featured in ARTnews, attracting international attention and critical acclaim with her urban landscape paintings of New York, London & the North of England. The style of painting has been described as ‘contemporary realism’, and is often favourably compared with Edward Hopper by collectors and art critics. Angela’s work is held in private collections in Europe and the USA, including the British Royal Family. Her admirers include leading figures in international business, filmmaking and the media.
