c. 2005

About the Item

This piece is in excellent condition and is signed lower right. Gayle Blair Tate is best known for his Trompe l'oeil style paintings. Although that was most common, there are a few rare landscape paintings by this artist. Tate was born in 1944 in Texas, and studied engineering at University of Wyoming and Florida State University. After college, Tate served for 5 years in the United States Air Force. He then pursued extensive private studies at the Loch Haven Art Center in Orlando and with private ateliers in Orlando, Tampa, Asheville, North Carolina and Laramie, Wyoming. This artist is very accomplished in his craft for he has been featured in many museums, galleries, and collections. His work has also been sold at numerous famous auction houses internationally and he has been included in a number of publications both online and print. This North Carolina landscape transcends the beauty of his common artworks and shows the multitude of different artistic talents this artist has.
