Lumi Mizutani
Painter and lithographer, Lumi Mizutani draws her inspiration from traditional Chinese and Japanese painting techniques. Her ink drawings and her paintings extend this tradition, and, through constant experimentation, carry her towards new horizons. For a few years now Lumi Mizutani’s work has revolved around the duality between abstract and figurative, black and colour, the spontaneity of the gesture (the ink painting) and the patient composition work (the painting with pigment). Thanks to these antagonisms she finds the necessary and complementary resources to express herself. “I felt the desire to introduce colors, especially Japanese color pigments, familiar to my childhood. Japanese painting thus entered my artistic expression and my life. While respecting the ancestral techniques and codes, I strive to create a personal and contemporary footprint that challenges the viewer by the emotion it arouses.“

- Golden City - 24k Gold and Mineral, Cityscape, Luxurious, Big Painting, GemstoneBy Maria MitsumoriLocated in Tokyo, JPThis large painting is Mitsumori's very first maiden work. An original mineral painting, made with 24k gold, crushed minerals (natural and synthetic), oyster shells and gold-coated mica on Japanese paper mounted on a wood panel. Natural colors include precious and semi-precious stones. Because these substances consist of unique chemical and physical properties, every artwork has unique characteristics and a story to tell, with a sense of connection to the earth. It is highly textured with a matt and rich sand-like appearance. What originally inspired her to paint was the cityscapes of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer is a city in India known as the “golden city” that gleams in gold-like colors at sunset. The city shimmered like a piece of gold jewelry, reminding her of jewelry that retains its shine even after a thousand years. She felt a strong desire to capture them in paintings and set out to do so. Presents the sceneries seen through her eyes in an art form. In mint condition, Certificate of Authenticity included and calligraphy seal in front, hand-signed at the back. Sold unframed and ready to hang (eye bolt and string mounted at the back).
