"What would it be like to live on one's own island?" asks artist Rodgers Naylor. "Amid the blue waters of the Adriatic Sea, your neighbors on islands nearby and a short boat trip to pleasant seaside towns. Most of us will never live this life but it's fun to dream about it." Rodgers created this oil painting inspired by a trip to the coast of Croatia. "The simplicity we can imagine in an island life is also reflected in the details of my work. One shape for the sky, one for the sea, and a third for the group of islands."
About the Artist
Rodgers Naylor boasts more than 15 years of making art. He enjoys painting in his 1920's Denver bungalow studio and en plein air, depicting both rural and urban landscapes. He especially loves scenes that suggest a story or have an interesting arrangement of light and dark shapes. During his free time, he enjoys hiking and snowshoeing in his home town in Colorado.
