Antico dipinto raffigurante un momento di svago dell'aristocrazia francese della seconda metà dell'ottocento.
La composizione della scena è impegnata da diversi personaggi ritratti in aperta campagna tra rovine architettoniche, colti in un gioioso quadretto di vita quotidiana animato dalla spensierata joie de vivre tipica dell'aristocrazia frivola e mondana.
Il nostro dipinto è ispirato alle cosi-dette "scene galanti", una tematica pittorica che divenne così preminente nella cultura pittorica europea già dai primi decenni del '700 al punto da avere quasi dignità di genere pittorico.
Riflette un modus vivendi della alta società dell'epoca, avvezza ai piaceri della vita, all'agiatezza del benessere di corte, tra svaghi, capricci e diletti vari.
Gli abiti sono quelli della tradizione settecentesca anche se il dipinto è stato realizzato nella seconda metà dell'800 in chiave quasi nostalgica.
La tela è impreziosita da una bella cornice francese in legno dorato in foglia oro coeva allo stesso.
