About the Item
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
“Carved by Glacial Waters” by Meg O'Hara is a mesmerizing abstract painting that captures the fluidity and power of nature’s forces. The composition features a rounded shape that curves gracefully across the canvas, drawing the viewer's eye along a path that seems to transcend the edges of the painting. This shape, reminiscent of a glacial river, embodies the dynamic movement and natural carving action of water over time.
The painting is a tonal blue masterpiece, with light blues acting almost as negative space, creating a sense of depth and contrast against the darker blue gradients that layer the "path." This gradient effect not only enhances the sense of movement but also adds a serene, contemplative quality to the piece. The interplay of light and dark blues mirrors the subtle yet powerful forces of glacial waters carving through the landscape, evoking both tranquility and awe.
O'Hara’s masterful use of texture and color imbues the painting with a sense of vitality and energy. Each brushstroke contributes to the visual rhythm of the composition, reflecting the artist's deep connection to the natural world and her ability to convey its transformative beauty. The tonal variations in blue evoke the cold, pristine essence of glacial waters, while the flowing shape suggests a journey through time and space.
At the heart of “Carved by Glacial Waters” lies a concept of nature's enduring impact and the continuous process of change and renewal. The abstract form and layered blues symbolize the perpetual flow and the sculpting power of water, highlighting the resilience and adaptability inherent in the natural world. This painting invites viewers to reflect on the beauty and strength found in nature’s cycles and the landscapes shaped by them.
“Carved by Glacial Waters” is not only visually captivating but also emotionally evocative, encouraging a deep sense of reflection and appreciation for nature's artistry. Its cool and harmonious palette makes it a perfect centerpiece to bring a sense of calm and inspiration to any space.
Available for acquisition at Signet Contemporary Art in Chelsea and online, “Carved by Glacial Waters” by Meg O'Hara offers an opportunity to bring the serene and powerful essence of nature into your home. Water 1 - Sands of Time, Painting, Acrylic on Canvas
By Catia Goffinet
Located in Yardley, PA
When we talk about nature, we inevitably identify the four elements as an integral part of its structure, not only of the planet itself, but also as a reflection of the various plans of our existence. In a way, we can transport these elements to us as follows: the earth element represents the structure of the physical body and its sensations; the water element is related to biochemistry, emotions and feelings; fire is directed to energy and intuition, to the spiritual plane; the air reports to the mind: thoughts, understanding and knowledge. Different cultures and traditions integrate a similar conception of the elements. They can be found, for example, in the sacred scriptures of India and also in the philosophical root of Ayurvedic medicine. In China, they understood life through the complementarity of yin and yang energies, dividing the elements into these two groups: fire and air are considered active, they are related to yang energy; as passive water and land, related to yin energy. The "Sands of Time...
