About the Series:
For Dray, Philosophy deals in the abstract and abstraction is an indispensable tool in art and culture. Through his paintings, he reasserts that abstraction has been a part of humanity, all cultures in all ages. It’s an indispensable tool, as we create symbols, vessels to fill with allusions and messages. The resulting artwork have a strong sense of purpose.
Each painting contains hundreds of hand coloured trapezoid shapes, hand drawn with a sharp blade onto silver or gold leaf. Each coloured shape can be interpreted to represent an ‘atomic’ element. On its own a block of colour is insignificant but seen as part of a whole it becomes dynamic and alive reflecting on how nature works. The phenomena of light is also important to the work. The light of the sun in a room illuminates and reflects off the paintings as they come alive and change through time.

Using coordinates between different geographical points and world views, seeking to generate a dialogue between stories.
In this way, places speak to tell us about degraded utopias, religious crusades, martyrs and oppressors, wars, victories, and defeats. All searches for what cannot be found.
The infinite existing possibilities, in this continuous present and its accumulation, to be history. The utopian idea of achieving completeness or completeness.
The transformation of the fabric into jewelry, the transmutation that moves from the sacred to the economic.
The "object of desire" is the engine of life and its different permutations.

About the Artist:
Eric G. Thompson captures stillness. He captures moments. Whether he is painting in oil, egg tempera or watercolor, he is seeking to evoke a haunting memory, a lost feeling. In a fast-paced world of deadlines, obligations and busyness, Eric invites you into the peace that he has enveloped within this momentary glimpse in time. Believing that we all seek silence, without even realizing it, he implores you to dwell on something you otherwise would have overlooked, or have long-forgotten. Literally and figuratively, he sheds light into the attics of our lives, even if it is just to awaken a feeling buried deep within the viewer.
A major influence on Eric’s work is the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, an appreciation of imperfection, age and patina, often referred to as “flawed beauty.” Balance and light are also key elements found in every painting he creates. Like the characters of the objects, figures and houses Eric paints, his technique has been refined through life experience. He is completely self-taught, and believes this process has led him to find a unique voice and vision, through perseverance, trial and error. A painter since 1989, Eric now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been selling his work professionally since 2002. He paints from his travels and the treasures discovered along the way, and he chooses his medium based on the mood he wishes to convey.

The cuts are mended with twine, like stitches do for healing wounds. Tulips Against Blue is an original mixed-media painting by Amy Christie. Painted in bright, vibrant colours with acrylics and mixed-media to achieve a textured surface on the canvas. Amy has used silverleaf on many parts of the composition plus a metallic glaze to highlight certain areas. The silverleaf and shimmering glaze catch the light beautifully, so this is a piece of artwork that changes depending on the time of day, the light in the room and the direction from which the painting is viewed… artwork that literally changes before your eyes.
I’m a North-Norfolk based painter inspired by the joy and vibrancy of flowers. They are a great vehicle for colour and I thoroughly enjoy selecting, mixing and working into my paints to create a piece that sings. I aim to uplift the viewer with my artwork and feel that I have succeeded in my work if I bring about a smile, a feeling of peace or a moment where all that matters is the beauty of colour and form.
