BIOGRAFÍA DEL ARTISTA:
August Ignatz Grosz fue un pintor y grabador austriaco de género y paisaje.
Grosz estudió ciencias naturales en la Universidad de Viena y, a partir de 1868, pintura en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Viena con Albert Zimmermann y Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels, donde también recibió la medalla de oro Fuger.
Realizó viajes de estudios por Alemania, así como a Francia, Italia y el norte de África. A su regreso, trabajó como artista independiente en Viena.
A partir de 1872 expuso sus obras con motivos de la Alta Baviera, Roma y Venecia en la Exposición de Viena. Desde 1873 fue miembro de la Wiener Kunstlerhaus.
