Portrait de jeune femme songeuse, 1881 Huile sur toile Signée et datée en bas à gauche : L. Schlessinger 1881 Dim sans cadre 46/56 Dim avec cadre 66/75 Cadre sculpté et doré Ce portrait représente une jeune femme en buste, de profil, le visage appuyé sur sa main, dans une attitude calme et introspective. L’artiste met en valeur la douceur de ses traits et l’élégance de sa tenue : un vêtement en satin bleu, bordé de fourrure sombre, un corsage en mousseline blanche et plusieurs bracelets au poignet. Le travail sur les textures est soigné, notamment dans le rendu des tissus et des bijoux. La lumière douce vient souligner la carnation du visage, détaché sur un fond sombre et neutre. Léopold Schlessinger, d’origine allemande, a été actif à Paris dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle. Élève de Franz Xaver Winterhalter, il s’est spécialisé dans le portrait, en particulier de figures féminines. Ce tableau, daté de 1881, s’inscrit dans cette production de portraits à la fois décoratifs et empreints de retenue, destinés à une clientèle bourgeoise ou aristocratique. Toile d’origine Craquelures de surface visibles, sans soulèvement. Couche picturale stable. Cadre en bois doré, d’époque, en bon état général.
