Still Life with Grapes - original still life realism painting - contemporary art

2025

About the Item

Dramatic and luxurious, Still Life with Grapes is a striking study of contrast, texture, and abundance. The deep blue-black grapes spill onto a delicate porcelain plate, their clustered forms exuding a natural opulence. The twisting vine, reaching upward like a sculptural relic, adds an element of wild elegance, while the surrounding leaves, tinged with autumnal hues, remind us of the inevitable change of seasons. Titorenkov’s exquisite use of light and shadow heightens the depth of this composition—the grapes shimmer under soft illumination, each one a study in transparency and reflection. The intricate blue patterns of the plate lend an air of timeless refinement, grounding the composition in a sense of tradition. Against the stark darkness of the background, the fruit and its organic details stand out with mesmerizing clarity. This painting is more than a depiction of fruit; it is a testament to nature’s richness, to the beauty of growth and decay, and to the fleeting, yet eternal, nature of the harvest. Still Life with Grapes speaks of abundance, nostalgia, and the simple pleasures of the earth’s bounty. This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online. Artist bio: Born in 1963 in Kotel, Bulgaria, Alexander Titorenkov is a renowned painter whose works masterfully blend hyperrealism with elements of photorealism and surrealism. His unique artistic voice has earned him a significant place in contemporary art, with his paintings housed in prestigious collections worldwide. Titorenkov's artistic journey began in 1982 when he graduated from the Art School in Sofia, Bulgaria. He continued his education at The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, where he specialized in Mural Painting in 1990. The following year, he graduated from the National Art Academy in Sofia with a Master of Arts (Hons) in Mural Painting, further cementing his mastery of the craft. Over the course of his career, Titorenkov has participated in numerous group art exhibitions from 1988 to 2017, showcasing his exceptional technical skill and unique vision. His paintings are recognized for their precise details and intricate compositions, which reflect both classical training and modern sensibilities. Titorenkov's style is rooted in hyperrealism, but he often incorporates elements of photorealism and surrealism to create a dynamic tension in his work. He chose these styles as the most fitting means of expressing his sense of form and artistic ideas. For Titorenkov, the academic foundation of form and image serves as a tool for exploring modern and abstract concepts, allowing for personal interpretation by each viewer. While his compositions may appear hyperrealistic, they often touch on universal, timeless themes and evoke deep, philosophical questions. The technique Titorenkov employs is known for its meticulous attention to detail and time-consuming nature. His works require immense patience and precision, with each painting taking great care to achieve the level of realism and depth that defines his style. As he explains, this challenging process is integral to the emotional and aesthetic power of his art, and he hopes that viewers will appreciate the true merits of his work. Titorenkov's work has been featured in major collections, including the National Art Gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria, as well as in private collections across the USA, the UK, Australia, the Netherlands, Israel, Spain, and Germany. He has received prestigious accolades throughout his career, including First Prize in the National Art Academy Competition in Sofia in 1989 and First Prize in an International Art Competition in New York’s Soho, Art 54 Gallery, in 1993. Explore the captivating realism collection by renowned artist Alexander Titorenkov, available for purchase exclusively at Signet Contemporary Art. These meticulously crafted works showcase Alexander Titorenkov’s exceptional skill and dedication to capturing the world in stunning detail. Whether you’re looking to enhance your personal art collection or bring a piece of art into your home, you can experience the beauty of these paintings from the comfort of your own space through our online gallery. “My artistic style is rooted in hyperrealism, with elements of photorealism and occasional touches of surrealism. I chose these styles because they best express my sense of form and ideas. Through my work, I aim to showcase the academic foundation of form and image as a tool for developing modern and abstract concepts—ideas that can be interpreted by everyone in their own way. Despite the hyperrealistic nature of my compositions, they often explore universal themes and timeless subjects. I am deeply inspired by the great masters of the Renaissance and often wonder how their works would evolve if they lived in the 20th or 21st century. In a way, I secretly hope that some of their paintings might resemble mine. The technique I employ is both challenging and time-consuming, requiring patience and precision in every detail. I hope that viewers will appreciate the dedication and care invested in each piece, recognizing the true merit of the work.”- Alexander Titorenkov

"1940 - A Study of Apples" Original Acrylic on Canvas by Tom Perkinson, Framed
By Tom Perkinson
Located in Encino, CA
"1940 - A Study of Apples" is an original acrylic painting on canvas by Tom Perkinson. His use of saturated violets, vivid yellows, and resplendent oranges pushes color to almost-otherworldly realms. Perkinson describes his style of painting as "Romantic Realism," a technique that incorporates two iconic art movements. This style, in combination with the imagination of the artist, produces remarkable results, showcasing Perkinson's keen ability to capture emotion, nature, and life - all in a brushstroke. Both his technical talent and choice of subject matter pair perfectly with its original carved, custom, gilt frame. This masterful work would make a great addition to an art collection and enhance most any home, perfect for those who have an affinity for still lifes, fruit-themed art, impressionism, romanticism, realism, plein-air painting, apples, and nature. In the artist’s own words: “My color combinations aren’t in the realm of the natural world, because I don’t paint reality; I’m a painter of fiction. I try to paint a sense of place, as though this scene really does exist. I have had my collectors ask me where this scene is, and I just have to point to my head and say I made it up. Thus, I think of my work as romantic realism. I’m painting a certain reality that I’ve invented, inspired by the fascinatingly rich Southwestern landscape.” “Color gets all the credit, but it’s the values that do all the work. I don’t begin with sketches, because I want to be free to follow the painting in any direction. I start with washes of different values and tints. Then, I begin to look for a landscape. Several directions will appear to me at this time, and then I have to decide on one of them. During these first few moments, I must establish my distance from the scene. Am I a mile away or just across the river? This is one of the first steps, and I have to decide before I can continue. It’s important for working out the perspective and how things are going to relate to one another in the picture. Then, as the landscape evolves, I look for more images to add to the composition.” Artist: TOM PERKINSON (1940-) Title: 1940 - A STUDY OF APPLES Medium & Surface: ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING ON CANVAS (framed) Signed: HAND SIGNED AND DATED BY ARTIST LOWER RIGHT Year Created: 1987 Country of Creation: UNITED STATES Image Area Dimensions: 21 x 28 INCHES Frame Dimensions:* 31.125 x 37.125 x 2.25 INCHES *This work of art is being sold framed. As a child, Perkinson discovered he had a love for the natural landscape, and a talent for art. He fostered that talent through classes at the John Herron Institute of Art in Indianapolis, and then at the Chicago Art Academy upon graduating from high school. He received a degree in art from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1964, before moving on to graduate school at the University of New Mexico. Here, among noted works of a larger scale, he continued to paint the landscape, and it was this work that began to reflect a new fascination with the Southwest. He had found what would become an infinite source of inspiration. Influenced by early painters of the southern Indiana landscape...
