About the Item

Large gestural still life painting of light pink peony flowers in a simple tabletop vase "Bouquet", oil on canvas, 50 x 36 inches Framing is optional, sides are cleanly painted white Made in 2021 Signed by the artist, verso "Bouquet" proffers all the hallmarks of a David Konigsberg painting: abstract liberties within representation, a rapturous handling of color, and an aesthetic that seamlessly fits into any space, rustic or modern. The underpainting is dappled with dots of dark oil paint, creating an evocative contrast with the soft pink petals. Konigsberg is a conceptual realist who works across media and painting genres to portray transitional spaces, metaphoric moments and alternative histories. A long-time member of the Gowanus and Red Hook artist communities in Brooklyn, he is now based in Hudson and employs the area's landscapes as the setting and sometimes subject of his work. More about the artist: Traditional, yet innovative; reflective, yet distant, David Konigsberg’s landscapes and still lifes are rife with double-backs and unexpected turns. A self-proclaimed “solitary wanderer,” Konigsberg gathers imagery and visions from long walks through the Catskills, through surrounding terrain, and through his own backyard. He views all as equally minute and equally monumental, from a peaked horizon to a burst of petals collected from his garden. This confluence of near and distant perspectives creates an almost literary quality; the intimacy of first-person voice jockeying with the scope of an omniscient narrator. David’s paintings resist a certain aboutness, allowing simultaneous narratives to proliferate across the bodies of his canvases, culminating in an emotional sucker punch.

Vase in the Window (Impressionist Floral Still Life Painting of Pink Peonies)
By David Konigsberg
Located in Hudson, NY
Vase in the Window (Impressionist Floral Still Life of Magenta Pink Peony Flowers in a Vase Against an Off-White Window Scene) by David Konigsberg oil on panel 50 x 36 x 1.5 inches no frame required - painting is wired on reverse for easy installation Signed by the artist, verso This painting is an exquisite example of the artist's unique ability to capture the very whimsical side of nature. Widely known for painting expansive views of the Hudson Valley where the artist often embarks on extensive hiking trails, Konigsberg also takes to painting more intimate and commonplace household objects. A coffee pot, salt and pepper shaker, or as in this case, a simple bouquet of long stemmed pink peonies careening over the side of a green vase; his use of oil washes capture both fluidity and structure. The fanciful treatment of the flowers calls to mind French Impressionist Toulouse Latrec...

Floral Bouquet (Lively Still Life Oil Painting of Flowers on Canvas)
By Dale Payson
Located in Hudson, NY
Oil painting on canvas, unframed 32 x 27 inches This still life oil painting of a bouquet of vibrant lilies, roses and irises was painted by Hudson Valley-based artist Dale Payson. The range of canary and pastel yellows, emerald green, beige and burnt umber hues that span the canvas are complimented by Payson's skillfully executed impasto technique. Payson captures the essence of her subject matter and abstracts it in the same stroke, rendering each painting somewhere between representation and interpretation. About the artist: Payson studied extensively at the School of Visual Arts in New York and eventually taught at this prestigious institution. Before painting became her sole ambition, she was a freelance book illustrator and has more than 25 books to her credit. Dale Payson also studied under Robert...
