Debbie Miller
"Cherry on Top" Small still life/ chocolate cupcake/ white frosting blue, pink

2017

About the Item

"Cherry on Top" Oil on Canvas, 6 x 6 inches. Painting of Chocolate Cupcake with White Frosting and Red Cherry on Top of a Pale Blue and Pink and White. Background. This painting is not framed and does not require framing. There are 2 additional works available in this series of cupcake paintings on canvas which work well as a grouping. There are 7 related cupcake paintings on panels available, same size, which are framed in silver. Beautifully painted in a luscious style reminiscent of Wayne Thiebaud's much more costly works, this series of individual or multiple cupcakes has both a Pop Art and traditional sensibility. At one point Miller set herself the fanciful goal of painting a cupcake a day and these charming paintings are as sophisticated, inventive, and accomplished as works of much higher value. They stand completely on their own or perfectly complement each when installed as a series. Some are on painted on canvas which require no framing, others are on panels which are sold framed in silver. Debbie (Gonville) Miller received her BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design in 1988. A Native Rhode Islander, she grew up in a home that encouraged creativity and being outside in nature as much as possible. Her evolution into an artist was inevitable. Since graduating from RISD, she has worked as a freelance artist, decorative painter, teacher and master artist at an international folk art company. In 2006 she made the transition back to her first love, oil painting, bringing to her art strong composition and a colorful illustrative style. Miller has had numerous exhibitions throughout New England and her paintings are in many collections in the United States, Canada, England, Germany and Norway.

'"Composition with Polka Dot Mug, Silver Russian Cup, and Lemons"
By Olga Antonova
Located in Wellesley, MA
Olga Antonova’s subject is compositions of extraordinarily elegant, beautiful and whimsical cups, plates, teapots, vases and dishes, but there is something playful about these paintings. Stacked teacups are also amusing, having a kind of jaunty and upbeat personality of their own. Polka dots are as endearing to adults as to children, and everyone responds to the bling and sparkle of gold and silver while marveling at Antonova’s seemingly effortless ability to paint these radiant details. This composition of rich patterns and intricate formal detail is the perfect complement to the more minimal shapes and brilliant yellow of the lemons, and Antonova's compositions are a wonderful twist on the classic traditions of still life painting. This work is unframed. Antonova's paintings can be installed individually, they also work extremely well in groupings as part of a series. Commissions incorporating one’s own personal collection of family heirlooms is also an option. Olga Antonova "Composition with White/Polka Dot Mug, Silver Russian Cup...
